the Secret Garden

The second half of Moses’ cultural tour was spent across the road from the village at

 the Secret Garden, an outdoor culture center and nature reserve. The pathways are lined with placards relating cultural lore and history from the different islands.

We checked out bungalows built in the individual islands’ traditional styles.

woven walls,

raised floors to allow for water and wild pigs.

We were told of some of their traditional natural remedies in the medicinal garden section.

The story of the islands in modern times was also told through enlargements of old news clippings and photos.
