the guest house door keeps swinging

This morning my baby (he still is my youngest, even at the ripe old age of 28) rushed out the door of the guest house to catch his ride to the airport. Playing tourist with Kit for a week was a real change.  We will see how well I adjust back.

While we were out at Lelepa Island, the guesthouse door swung in for another Aussie, Neil Watts. He is here with a crew from It Is Written-Australia to film Neil’s story of survival and divine deliverance. Last week marked the eleventh anniversary of this event. Check out http://www.adventistreview.org/9949/story1.htm for the story as it was related shortly after it happened. The local paper ran the story and a photo last week in a “what happened 11 years ago this week” piece.

The weather front that has moved in over the last few days has caused all kinds of grief. The shipment for Tanna has not gone out. They can leave alright, but at some of their ports of call the freight has to be off loaded onto small boats and that isn’t possible with the swells around the islands right now (which, actually aren’t that bad). Can you see the church components shining on the deck?  Kit snapped this from the water ferry on our way over to the Iririki resort island a few days ago.

The rain stopped all work on the churches, so they just sit (and consequently, so does Karl). I have mountains of laundry to do, but hanging it out in the rain will never get it dry, so why go there?! The IIW-A filming crew has spent the last 8 hours setting up to make a shot at every break in the rain, only to have to duck for cover a few minutes later. Neil says they have gotten about 15 minutes worth filmed. Ouch!
