Phoenix homestead project

As we await departure… life goes on. The optimistic 3 days to redo our roof ...
has extended somewhat. Are we really surprised? To let you share in our process, am giving you a window into what's happenin' at the Schwinn homestead in Phoenix.

What a mess. The tear off crew started early enough in the day, but with long breaks and quitting early, they didn't get much done the first 2 days.

When one of the bosses showed up on Friday…my, did fur fly! They certainly put in more time, but…. left us looking pretty ragged for the weekend. Oh, well. We are just looking forward to not having old brittle shingles break and fly off the house with each wind storm.

And it will be nice having a patio roof that no longer leaks. We knew we needed new sheeting where the old a/c used to sit, but seeing the old water damage and tearing off the sheeting, exposing the attic, made it seem even worse than it was. Of course, Karl used the opportunity of having the roof torn up to get to a few issues that also needed attention, so spent Friday afternoon doing his thing on the patio and in the attic.
New sheeting goes on the patio (you can see our little house on wheels in the background, waiting for us to go on the next project on which it can serve us.
The shingles delivered and everything resting for the weekend.  However, you can get a small peek of what chaos is on the ground, yuck.  Can't wait for that to get cleaned up!
