Camp Meeting

June brought us to our annual event in Prescott, AZ... Arizona SDA Camp Meeting.  Sister, Kelly Sue, oversees the programing for children 0-9 years and personally leads the program for kids 6-9.  I've been her "go-fer" since she started doing it... this makes the 16th campmeeting for her programs.
During camp meeting each conference employee is assigned a work station.  The last 7 years Kelly Sue has had the unique experience of having her boss work for her.  They have fun with this role reversal and a lot of teasing goes on.  Kelly Sue, Cody and his friend, Dillon,  and I drove up to Prescott for a few hours the proceding Sunday to get all the supplies shifted to our classroom.  Her boss, Ivan, met us up there with his pickup and tools.  This was a little different than the way we had set up the basics in the past, but it worked well and within 5 hours we were headed back down the mountain.

On Tuesday, Cody and I drove back up... he, to report for his summer job in the camp cafeteria, me to clean and set up our cabin (Kelly Sue was in CA attending a seminar for work).  The conference employees arrived the next morning and we got to work on organizing craft and programming materials, setting up learning centers, and turning the front of the room into a reminder of the inside of Noah's Ark, this year's feature story for the theme of God's Care for Us.
Our other conference employee assigned to the Primary Department, Pastor Abel, Ivan, and I had a good start on things by the time Kelly Sue arrived Wednesday afternoon.  It loses a little in the photographs, but when the kids arrived on Friday evening, they found their imaginations could fill in a lot of blanks.

We were blessed to have five camp staff assigned to our department.  For a few of them, this was their introduction to working with this age kids....a gentler introduction that we hope helped two weeks later when they became responsible for a whole cabin full 24/7!

We were also glad to have some returning friends and family give us a hand during programs... Susan(as in sister), Angie and Amy.

Kelly Sue keeps a photo record of each year's program set up.  Cody and Cassie were just babies when we did the first program.  They have been captured in each year's record.  However, with them growing up, it has turned into a planned photo op... but traditions are traditions and Kelly Sue makes sure to get it.
